There Is A Perfect Storage Unit For You

Posted on

When you find that you need extra space to store your belongings, do not hesitate to find a high-quality storage unit. It can be nerve-racking to keep your items away from your home, but they may be safer in a storage unit. There are a few things that you can do that will make for a better experience with storage units. Here are just a few different things you should do before you purchase a storage unit contract:

Check Security

The first thing that you want to do is check what type of security the storage facility uses. Most storage unit facilities are going to take security very seriously. For this purpose, most facilities utilize a very large fence with barbed or razor wire on top. There is usually only one gate for entry and exit, which controls traffic into the facility. It is also very common to see a storage facility utilize security cameras to give an extra sense of security to clients. The last thing that a storage facility wants is a bad reputation for security.

Different Sized Storage Units

Most people do not realize that there are many different sizes of storage units. Some of the smaller units are perfect for storing extra items like garden tools, seasonal items, office supplies or other miscellaneous boxes. These are usually walk-in closet sized. If you are looking for a room-sized storage space to keep your items during a remodel or during a move, you are in luck. Simply put you will be able to find almost any size storage unit. Some of the most common sizes include; 5'X5', 5'X10', 10'X10', 10'20', and 10'X20'. These are common, but in no way are these sizes the extent of the sizes that you can find available. Do not feel like you are stuck in one specific size storage unit.

Pest Control

When you are looking at potential storage units, no matter the size, look for any sign of pests. Look for insects and rodents especially. If you see any insects, you are going to want to first bring it to the attention of the facility manager. You may want to take your business elsewhere. The sure sign that rodents are around are their fecal pellets. When looking at storage units do not be afraid to get down on your knees and inspect the floor for fecal pellets. Be sure to look at the corners and sides of the unit. The good news is that most facilities regularly spray for multiple types of rodents and insects.
